Joy's stuff updated:

That free SEO software might be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if one can't figure out how to install it, it's not much good, huh. That also goes for the tool I downloaded that installs an amazon.com widget on your wordpress blog. Can't figure it out. What I need is a tech genie sitting on my shoulder, whispering in my ear, guiding me step by step on this kind of stuff. Leaving me free to do what I consider the "fun" stuff! I'm officially putting my order in to the Universe: "Bring me a tech genie!"

I met with our memberPhilip Young of Black Wolf Web Design this past Friday to go over plans to overhaul my main website, www.truecolorsauraphotography.com. My main goals are to have the site reflect more accurately what I'm all about, to give greater value with a combination of services, product and freebies and to link to other sites including my own and others. He had some great advice and as soon as I can get off my butt and get the content ready for him, he'll be implementing the changes. Check the website out now for a "before" and then when it's done, it would be great if you could check the "after" for me to let me know what you think. Philip did the original work on my site and I'm really excited about the potential! Check out his other site www.blackunykorn.com for an additional example of his work. A true renaissance man!

I've started up a new ning group for conscious dating. It's actually another conscious bloggers group because I think an excellent way to get to know people is through their blogging. It's called "The Missionary Position". You know...for those that are on a mission. Like Ghandi. Like Mother Theresa. Like Jake and Elwood Blues. Like you and me. So, I figure we get a bunch of people together that are looking for their soul mate/twin flame/life partner (you get the picture) and we write about our thoughts and experiences. Maybe even make an e-book out of our group writings. If you are interested in joining, or know someone that might be a fit for the group...come on over to www.themissionaryposition.ning.com and let's get started!

Another thing I've done as an experiment is to post a profile over at www.plentyoffish.com, which is a totally free dating site, directing people to check out my blog to see if they even WANT to consider dating me. I'll let you know how that works.

Speaking of dating....we've got as one of our members an official sadchan. The Sadchan, a Jewish matchmaker, is officially back in vogue. Backed by eons of tradition Marilyn Shannon , of Re-enchant Planet Earth, a conscious community (very cool...check it out) uses her knowledge and most importantly her heart and intuition to match up people of like minds and hearts. If you are searching for your special someone, drop Marilyn a line or two. She's not even charging....yet!

Tagging Pointers:
Tag EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Even if the person or thing or concept is not mentioned in your article, tag it anyways. For example, over on Facebook yesterday (and if you don't have a Facebook page yet get one and if you have a Facebook page and are not working it...you need to start!) I received email notices that I was tagged in two different articles. Got my attention, I'll tell you! Just like memberDave Baldwin blogged about over at The Introverted Entrepreneur (I love that title!) there's no better way to get people's attention than to talk about them! Of course, don't make a habit of spamming people just to get them to read your stuff, but every once in a while might not hurt. Now, there is a difference between tagging and meta keywords, and when I get that figured out, I'll let you know.

Remember...it is of utmost importance to GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE. Visit other people's blogs and leave pertinant and insightful comments. You can comment "Bravo" or "Well done" but that's not going to attract any traffic to your blog or website. Join SEVERAL social networking groups, such as Facebook, Gaia (conscious people over there), different ning groups, etc. You really should at least have a presence over on MySpace, too, although I've heard rumors that it's "dying." Fill out your profiles COMPLETELY, along with links to your blogs and websites. In other words, shamelessly promote yourself. And, always use your name AND your brand. For example, my brand has let me know it's "Conscious Joy" and I've been plastering it all over the internet. When I do a google search for "Conscious Joy" I am results 1, 2 and 3 out of 5,480,000. And I've only been doing this for about a month. Of course, I need to consider how many people are googling "Conscious Joy!" (That's my mission, btw...to get people to even THINK that joy can be a conscious thing!)
